When Dance Is Life evolved into an in-person party in 2021, the fountain in New York City’s Central Park was the ideal location, due to its legacy as a cultural site for social gatherings and dancing. Bethesda Fountain and Terrace were popular spots for Salsa and Latin Hustle in the early 1970s, while the nearby Skaters Circle was the place to roller skate.

The home base of Dance Is Life is now just a few dance steps away from Bethesda Fountain, at the Naumberg Bandshell, with its spacious stage and dance floor nestled at the foot of the Mall in Central Park. There is plenty of space to spread out, jump for joy, and invite everyone who passes by to join.

Hudson River Park’s
Pier 76

In 2023, Dance Is Life expanded to Hudson River Park’s Pier 76, in a partnership to bring the free public service to a new public park. Pier 76 opened the same summer that Dance Is Life was launched, in 2021. This scenic pier is part of a 4-mile stretch along the Hudson River, now permanently designated as open space for public recreational activities, thanks to the Hudson River Park Act that passed in 1998.
